Sin city of cyberspace and Filipino tidbit 06/01/2012
On the dais of cyber-stage every packet of data unzips to reveal information that the brain cells record to do ultimate justice on it. However, it is unfortunate to mention, that a chunk of those data are virtually controlled by several global tycoons from the sin cities on recent years. When outsourcing of businesses are on boom in the world arena, those infamous magnates are strategically exploiting few specific sites of global village to cash in on loopholes of the e-world.

Philippines is one of those targeted outsourced locations where porn industry wore a new look over past few years based on cyber evolution.
The industry devoid of nightlife razzmatazz unlike the other red light zones has already mushroomed on impoverished basins utilizing the poor Filipino economy. Most of the young girls and deprived women of their society are allured into these agencies that...

Happy New Year and 300+ wishes 02/01/2012
It was a time of New Years in ripe teenage or in the aftershock, my male friends openly lamented for not having too many cards from the prospective girl friends and the female friends whispered. Me, usually observed all those things and showing a careless approach to receive the cards written, ‘My Best Friend’, pampered myself charitably, especially when it were from never-think-of , ‘unwanted’ personalities.
It was a time; in my mid-twenties, suddenly started the flow of cards being heave on my awfully shaped cot, and the signatures, most of the times abbreviated or disguised in something very personal, on those came from teenagers to mid-thirty womenfolk made the cot decorated. In this passage of time, I got confused with my identity and felt the urge, for the first and final instance, to go back to adolescence with all the maturity of the ripe age for short-period, to be in the normal course of age in quick succession.

One Man Army 24/12/2011
Kunal Saha’s name still does not ring a bell in New Delhi media like the many lesser fighters who bask in the regular national channels’ spotlight. But the HIV/AIDS researcher from Ohio battling India’s corrupt healthcare system after his wife’s death from medical negligence in 1998 is a one-man army who this October was awarded the highest ever medical damage by the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC). Saha in conversation with Sujoy Dhar

I knew Kunal Saha through telephonic conversations and e-mails since May 1999 as a Kolkata journalist reporting his case. But I saw him first in the September of 2000 at the Greyhound bus depot of Columbus in Ohio, USA. He came driving his black Nissan to receive me. At a glance, the six-foot-tall robust built man in a navy blue suit and trademark dark glasses looked like a don. But behind the rob...

Chinese puppetry in heritage list 27/11/2011
Two elements from Belgium and China were Saturday added to the United Nations-backed list aimed at preserving and spotlighting the planet''s most valuable intangible heritage.

A 24-member intergovernmental committee, meeting in Bali, Indonesia, selected the Leuven age set ritual repertoire from Belgium and shadow puppetry from China to join the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The age sets of Leuven are considered a decade-long rite of passage for local men who share the same birth year, according to a press release issued by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Participants form a group at the age of 40 and take part in social and cultural activities that culminate in a celebration around the city''s statue of the prophet Abraham. Each group has an older "godfather" to guide them and chooses its own medal, flag and uniform.

In China, shadow puppetry has a long and rich tradition, with colourful silhouette figures used to perform plays against a back-lit cloth screen. The puppets are made from leather or paper and the skills needed by participants, from manipulating the puppets to improvisational singing, are passe...

Diesel: When bad policy makes for toxic hell 23/11/2011
ust consider. Every time petrol prices are raised, oil companies end up losing more money. Simply because the price differential between petrol and diesel increases further, and people gravitate towards diesel vehicles.

J More the use of diesel, more the oil companies bleed. Worse, we all bleed because diesel vehicles add to toxic pollution in our cities, which, in turn, adds to ill health and treatment costs.

This is very well understood. Yet nobody will do anything to fix the trend.

Today, it makes more sense for the next car buyer to buy an expensive personal car—perhaps even a Mercedes-Benz—...
